“Tobias Zielony is a German artist, photographer and filmmaker. He lives and works in Berlin.
Zielony studied documentary photography from 1998 to 2001 at the University of Wales, Newport in the UK. With the series “”Curfew”” (2001), which shows young people in Bristol, he finished his studies. In 2001, he moved to the Leipzig Academy of Visual Arts to join the masterclass of Timm Rautert. His book project “”Behind the Block””, for which he observed young people in four European cities received the prize of the Leipzig Institute in 2002.
Tobias Zielony was lecturer at the Chair for Artistic Photography at the Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln (Cologne, Germany) during the winter semester 2009/10. He has received numerous scholarships and awards. In 2015, Zielony, together with Olaf Nicolai, Hito Steyerl and Jasmina Metwaly / Philip Rizk, exhibited at the German Pavilion of the Biennale di Venezia. “
