In the front of the gallery Off the Record by Kerry Smith features contemporary Gouache  & Oil Stick Paintings with a Rock ‘n’ Roll attitude. Off The Record is a series of record album art. It combines Smith’s love for album art, graphic design and fine art. The series was inspired by Beck’s 2015 Grammy award for best album.

Album covers depicted in Smith’s art range from pop and rock, over grunge and punk to jazz and all-time classics. The roster of artists includes The Beatles, Radio Head, Ryan Adams, Boston, Simon & Garfunkel, Jack White, John Coltrane, Johnny Cash, George Harrison, Led Zeppelin, Ray Charles, Norah Jones, Bruce Springsteen and Queen among others.

This will be Kerry Smith’s first Solo Exhibition in Kansas City. His work can be found in private and public collection as well as museums around the country and his latest Off the Records series has drawn nationwide attention. Smith is especially proud to have work installed at the Wilco Loft in Chicago, IL. The artist will be attending the opening reception, so make sure you will join us on First Friday, August 4th between 4-9pm at Cerbera Gallery in the Crossroads, KCMO.

Arrived just in time for our new Salon are works by painters Hans Habeger and Keith Young, works on paper by Ron English, Jean Tinguely, Hans Hartung and Tamara Walker, ceramic works by Yoonjee Kwak, Rain Harris, Joanna Powell as well as a large selection of jewelry by artists such as Cydney Ross, Sam McPherson, Angelica Sandoval, House of DeBoer, Carly Slade, Jen Watson and Jen Wilkenson.

As usual on #First Friday we’ll have chilled background tunes coming from our very own DJ Deep House Cat and will be serving libations and snacks. Our doors will open at 3pm, so make sure you’ll stop by!
