About This Work

This porcelain coffee mug (also perfect as a teacup with handle) is a functional piece of ceramic art, capturing quiet, cozy moments—like sitting beside a bookshelf filled with books, or placed near decorative bowls and vases with flowers. The design features a beautifully illustrated large Japanese vase with a lush bouquet, and an armchair adorned with vintage floral patterns and a cheerful yellow bird, evoking a warm and inviting domestic scene.

Each mug is wheel-thrown and hand-painted, using a layered combination of underglaze transfers, glaze, overglaze, metallic lusters, and vintage ceramic transfers. These diverse materials and techniques come together to create a richly detailed, visually striking surface that balances technical craftsmanship with whimsical storytelling.

Fired to cone 6 in oxidation, with multiple low-temperature firings at cone 018, this mug demonstrates durability while preserving its intricate surface.

This piece is food safe, but because it features metallic luster decoration, it should not be used in the microwave or dishwasher. For best care, please gently hand wash with a soft sponge and non-abrasive soap.
