About This Work

Dan Anderson’s work is all about transforming the meaning of man-made industrial objects by recreating them in the more primitive medium of clay. A functional piece like this represents that transformation beautifully. This contemporary ceramic jar was fired in an anagama kiln and features the Pegasus symbol of a popular gas company on an earthy yellow ochre stoneware vessel with a black lid. Both wood fired, and decal fired, it measures 3.75″x4.5″x4.5″.

About Dan Anderson

"My artwork, an amalgam of vessel and industrial artifact, is full of irony-handsome replicas of man-made objects, soft clay renderings of metal objects aged and impotent reminders of a once powerful age."
