About This Work

Inspired by the serene beauty of the La Foce Gardens in Tuscany, Italy, this drawing captures the warmth and harmony of the region’s iconic lemon trees. Created during an artist residency at Essere, the piece reflects the vibrant atmosphere of creativity and connection shared among fellow artists.

Steeped in the rich history of the Tuscan landscape, the work invites viewers into a tranquil world of sunlight, fragrance, and timeless elegance. Hanging in your home, it serves as a poetic window into the heart of an Italian garden — where nature and artistry intertwine.

Maria Deely (b. 1999) is a West Virginia University graduate and the founder of Deely Drawings LLC. Working primarily in colored pencil, Maria builds exquisitely detailed, photorealistic drawings that aim to bring viewers a sense of peace and quiet reflection. She launched her business at 19 and has continued to refine her technique while making work that maps personal and meaningful places. Living with cyclic vomiting syndrome (CVS) has shaped her practice—rather than limiting it, Maria embraces those constraints and channels them into a steady, focused studio discipline. Her drawings evoke memory, place, and calm, inviting the viewer into intimate landscapes of the heart.

About Maria Deely

Maria Deely captures the enchanting beauty of Blarney Castle’s gardens in this vibrant colored pencil drawing. Inspired by her travels to Ireland, Deely translates the lush, fragrant spring landscape into a vivid study of color and texture. Her work reflects both a personal connection to place and an admiration for the meticulous care of the castle’s gardeners. Through layered hues and delicate detail, she invites viewers into the heart of Blarney’s floral splendor—an intimate glimpse of nature’s artistry rendered through her own.
