Biography:
In 1952, Karl A. W. Wierspecker began his studies in architecture, sculpture, and graphic design in Krefeld and Düsseldorf. He graduated in 1958 under the mentorship of Prof. J. Fassbender. Since 1965, he has been working as a painter and sculptor in Düsseldorf. In 1971, he founded the Wierspecker GmbH advertising agency, which he sold in 1994 to resume his artistic pursuits.

About the Work:
Wierspecker’s paintings explore the tension between surface and space. Sometimes, the geometric forms remain flat, denying any plastic effect. More often, however, individual shapes establish themselves as three-dimensional entities, becoming tangible in space. (Excerpt from the opening speech at Schloss Eicherhof by Dr. Petra Lamers-Schütze)
