Description
The woman in the veil keeps her modesty, shame, and honor intact and keeps it reserved for her lover to relish only. Upon the first gaze, there is an obvious “call-to-attention” contest between the jewelry and the bottomless eyes, which is later resolved as the eyes win. Though most of her body is covered, the artist has explored every nook and corner of his artistic ability to manifest his creative expression in his artwork through bold blue color. Contradictory to the modernist view of Indian tradition being “backward”, the artwork asserts a positive cultural image of rural India, which the woman screams through her eyes.
